Bridal advice from the founder of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics
As the blushing bride, how do you ensure your makeup works from the moment you step into your wedding car to the moment you bid farewell to your guests late into the night?
The first thing is to find a professional makeup artist. Then, at least two weeks before your wedding, go for a rehearsal. Once you’re satisfied with the overall look, take a picture of yourself and look at it on a screen large enough to simulate the size of a photograph.
A common mistake brides make is to wear too little makeup. What looks good to you when you look in a hand-mirror may well disappear on camera or from a distance. Mineral makeup is ideal for brides because it doesn’t look like makeup and gives a natural, dewy look, flattering for brides of all ages.
Makeup for brides should be as matte as possible because of the flash of the cameras. For a truly flawless look, apply a thin coat of Absence Oil Control Primer and then Liquid Minerals. Brush the pressed minerals on top. Finish by dusting Amazing Matte Finishing Powder lightly on top. All of this minimises shine.
Absence is a groundbreaking new product which not only eliminates shine and controls sebum but also primes the skin, leaving it with a perfectly smooth surface for the application of the Jane Iredale mineral foundations. Absence doesn’t just absorb oil the way most oil-control products do, but actually helps to control over-active sebaceous glands and regulate the pH balance of the skin. Absence also keeps colour true by forming an attraction barrier between the skin and makeup so that makeup can stay on longer and skin stays shine-free. The interaction of oil and makeup is one of the principle causes of colour change.
Liquid Minerals is a light-diffusing, soft-focus liquid foundation that makes skin look more youthful, diminishes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, minimises pores, evens out skin tone and adheres so well there is minimal transference. Tiny liposome beads contain essential vitamins and minerals that are time released onto the skin as it heats up throughout the day.
Amazing Matte Finishing Powder is the final step to beautiful bridal makeup. This is the newest product in the Jane Iredale collection that is primarily made from rice powder and is absorbent and translucent, working under and over the mineral powders. This product is ideal for matting shiny faces or for photography. It will absorb oil and cut shine.
Jane Iredale also recommends: Avoid shimmer on the brow bone. This will look like a mirror in the flash pictures. Keep shadows matte, although a little shimmer on the lid can be pretty. Stick to a medium shade lipstick; too light will contribute to the washed-out look, too dark and the camera will have trouble with the contrast between the lipstick and the skin shade. If you have darker skin, reds and wines are beautiful and very classic.
Your make up will be fresh & perfect for many hours, however it is advisable to purchase a retail sized lipstick from ND to re apply after your ceremony.
